Pump and Stockclass - The Purist Form

Picture
Bobby playing stockclass
Pump and stockclass could be considered the purist versions of the sport. The player has to give up thier firepower and ability to lay paint in order to play the game. The player has to think, move more effectivly, and presicly place shots rather than throwing a rope in the hope of hitting someone. Playing pump requires a player to rely on his skill rather than how much paint his marker can shoot. With a pump marker a player has to load each paintball individually into the breach of the marker. The user cocks the marker to load one paintball, fires the paintball, and has to cock the marker again in order to fire again.

OPEN CLASS
Open class consists of a marker that has a bulk, or constant, air supply and a hopper of any size. Marker must require cocking in order to fire each round.

STOCK CLASS
Stock class could be considered the purest of the pure. The marker here is required to use a horizontal stick feed that holds no more than 20 round, and can not use a bulk, or constant, air supply, but rather uses 12 gram CO2 canisters. Rules and regulations for stockclass can be far more limiting and restricting, but most modern day fields and tournaments accept the 12 gram CO2 and no more than 20 rounds in a horizontal feed on a marker that requires cocking in order to fire each round as the only requirement for a marker to be used in stockclass play.

Hopefully over time we might be able to increase the popularity of pump paintball in Mississippi as well.
